EDUCATOR

A former National Endowment ‘Jazz Artist in Schools’ Artist-in-Residence, as an artist-teacher my main goal is to instill a “love and joy for music”. Teaching in both the traditional and the improvisational modalities allows each student to explore music as a language that is both written and spoken. As the student discovers his/her musical journey is a reflection of life, a sense of self-worth is cultivated. Understanding each student’s personality and learning style is key to unlocking the hidden expression connecting the mind and heart. This is of upmost importance to me as an educator. Using this to create a community of musical ‘inquirers’ is the ultimate goal, and a path to life-long engagement in Music.  With a 3 decade history Marcia is the Founder and Executive/Artistic Director of Miraflores Académie, a California 501(c) organization based in the SF Bay.

Miraflores Académie Mission
Simply put … we will create a foundation for accepting and working with others by the promotion, development, and reinforcement of the values that unite people into a family. We will utilize Music in establishing innovative creative, cultural and educational programs.
